MME publishes WG report on oil exploration and production beyond 200 nautical miles

Last Monday (2), the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) published the report from the working group that is evaluating the rules for exploration and production on the Continental Shelf beyond 200 nautical miles, where Brazil has exclusivity for economic exploitation. According to the working group, there are no obstacles to the offer of the related exploratory blocks in the 17th Bidding Round, considering that Sector SS-AUP5 in the Santos Basin is inserted in the area already approved by the Commission on Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).

It is estimated that the six blocks on offer in the 17th Bidding Round that are located partially or totally beyond the Exclusive Economic Zone have the potential to attract interest and could contribute to the consolidation of the oil industry in the country.
