Mr. Elias is currently the head of Petroleum Geochemistry Services at BPS.

He holds a B.Sc. in chemistry and a M.Sc. and D.Sc. in organic chemistry, with a specialization in organic geochemistry and oceanography, from the University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in conjunction with Oregon State University (US). In addition, he also possesses an MBA (CEO-FGV) from Faculdade Getúlio Vargas (Brazil) and specializations in geostatistics (Center of Geostatistics of L’école Des Mines ParisTech, France), finance for executives (INSEAD, France) and strategic growth and change (Columbia Business School, US).

With over 30 years of experience in petroleum geochemistry, he was a technical director for Anatech (2011-17) and a founding director of HRT-Petroleum (2004-10), being responsible for soil, water, rock and oil parameter interpretation. Previous to this, he worked at Analytical Solutions (2001-04) as an oil and environmental analysis manager, after working for three years as the coordinator of geochemical laboratories for CENPES-Petrobras (1999-2001). He was also a faculty research assistant to Dr. Simoneit at Oregon State University (USA) (1995-98).

Over the course of his career, Mr. Elias has published more than 30 articles in scientific journals, developed about 40 conference papers and coordinated over 50 seafloor geochemical studies.
