Last week, ANP approved today the public consultation regarding the Environmental Study (EAAS) of the Sergipe-Alagoas offshore sedimentary basin for 90 days, in addition to authorizing the realization of public hearings in Salvador (BA), Maceió (AL), Aracaju (SE) and Recife (PE), with the local community, authorities and other interested parties.
The EAAS of the Sergipe-Alagoas/Jacuípe Basin aims to improve the process of defining areas for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas. The resulting socio-environmental diagnosis will aid the planning of public oil and natural gas policies and include recommendations for environmental licensing, further increasing the transparency and legal certainty of the process of making exploratory areas available through bidding rounds and in the Permanent Offer.
The initial version of the study is available here (Portuguese only).
