Atlas
This study comprises a quantitative 3D petroleum system modelling and exploration risk assessment of the Northern Campos Basin, based on detailed 2D seismic data and interpretation, together with a very comprehensive and detailed geological and geochemical data information. It was based on a seismic interpretation of 13,000 km of 2D seismic lines. Additionally, a high resolution geochemistry analysis of 77 petroleum samples and rocks from 64 wells were used to determine the oil and source rock origin, thermal evolution, degree of biodegradation, oil mixture and oil cracking.
This 3D basin modeling allowed the assessment of the interplay between source, reservoirs, seals and trap geometries, thermal evolution of potential source rocks, hydrocarbon types and charge, and timing of migration, accumulation and preservation.
