Atlas
The petroleum system is a suitable approach to describe the main fluids (oil and gas), and rocks (source, seal and reservoir) associated with the Aptian/Albian marine Codó and Preguiças systems. The summary charts were created based mostly on the onshore wells and consists of a complete compilation of the geological and geophysical data of the basin, thus are fit to help assessment of the different active petroleum systems at play. They include source rocks maps, geochemical logs and geochemical interpretative plots based on analyses of rocks, gases and oils samples. High resolution geochemistry technologies on these samples are important to correlate hydrocarbons to their source rocks, depositional environments, define thermal maturity, definition of degree of oil-to-gas cracking and degree of biodegradation.
These geological and geochemical charts are basic to allow E&P companies to step into deep water frontier of the Barreirinhas Basin in their effort for oil and gas exploration.
